100% Viognier, Antas vineyard.
Background On the top ridge of the vineyard, where the Viognier is planted, is the probable site of a roman villa as this block is littered with terracotta tile fragments hence the name Telhas, Portuguese for roof tiles.
Handpicked fruit grown on the austere granitic soil of the Antes vineyard was crushed left with the skins for 2 days before fermentation in new oak barrels and aging on lees for 11 months. Very similar to the traditional methods of Condrieu.
Light gold with green reflections.
Lift nose of apricots, greengage with a hint of toasty vanilla.
Ripe full palate of the same fruit with a refreshing acid spine and slight grip on finish to balance the rich fruit. Still needs time in bottle to open up
