Three new southern French wines are added to the portfolio - Chateau Cabezac in Bize Minervois, Chateau Coustarelle in Cahors and Pietri Geraud acclaimed Banyuls producer.
Delibo add Spanish wines to the portfolio. Bodegas Belote is a small 2.5 ha prodcuer in Roales de Campos south of Leon making characterful wines using the prieto Picudo variety. Estones in Montsant, another small producer, with four wines represented including a dry PX from Tarra Alta, and Maior de Mendoza in Rias Baixas, one Albarino.
Delibo Wine Agencies have taken on the organic wines of Aubai Mema in the Pays du Gard. The wines are made by Mark Haynes, who grew up in England and France (his mother is French) and in particular spent much time in the region. He fell for the place and destiny took him back there to make wine, starting in 2002. His wines have been recognised by a number of publications. They are expressive and robust and for long keeping in the case of the reds. Mark's other passion is the Tango, and his winery, the old co-operative in the village, is often the place for lively evenings of dancing, eating and drinking.
Delibo wine agencies have taken on four German growers, new to the UK, to complement S.A Prum in the Mosel. The four are Bibo Runge, Rheingau - Oliver Zeter, Pfalz - Groebe, Rheinhessen, Dautel, Wurttemberg. Collectively they are known as 'The 5' in the Delibo portfolio. Five regions and five growers, and as it happens five varieties at present. These producers have all been recognised in the press both in the UK and domestically and each has a passion and respect for their regions. Please see their individual profiles.
The Footprint range of wines are designed to be easy drinking and are ideal 'house wines'. Mike Graham has over 30 years experience making wine in South Africa and was tasked with finding the right growers in the right regions to meet the expectations of the brand. The range is very well presented and achieves its aim of being quaffable and representative.
Delibo Wine Agencies has been appointed exclusive UK agent for the fine and historic Mosel estate Weingut S.A Prum, commencing 1st August 2014.
The deal was brokered by Tony Proctor (of Australian wine brand Barramundi fame) who has worked with Raimund Prüm for nearly 30 years, most recently to find the right agent to bring the family’s wines back to the UK market. From his base in North Yorkshire, Proctor will support Delibo by selling the S.A. Prüm wines in the UK, together with the wines Delibo is already well known for from Chile, France and New Zealand.
The addition of Weingut S.A. Prüm (a founder member of Germany’s prestigious VDP – Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter) is a significant development for Delibo. Initially 8 wines will be imported, however many others, including older vintages of Eisweine, Beerenauslesen and Trockenbeerenauslesen are available from the cellars.
S.A Prüm is a family-owned wine estate nestled on the banks of Germany’s serene Mosel River, at the heart of the country’s celebrated Mosel growing region. Here, the Prüm family has cultivated vines for over 200 years. The estate has been in the hands of Raimund Prüm, owner and winemaker, since 1971 when he assumed full management. Under his leadership, the property has become one of the region’s most successful wineries, boasting an international reputation for the production of exquisite Rieslings.
