Viña San Esteban, Aconcagua, Chile
Viña San Esteban is a family business producing quality wines principally for export. The winery and offices are located in the La Florida and Paidahuen vineyards, in the town of San Esteban, central Chile. These two estates are planted with vines on pergolas and are vertically-trained on hillsides on the Aconcagua River's banks. Privileged soil conditions and the Aconcagua Valley's microclimate, together with quality technological practices in the vineyards and the winery, produce quality grapes and wines, which are recognised internationally.
Viña San Esteban is committed to production in a sustainable manner. To this end the family has policies to maintain and continuously improve its systems and to stimulate their employees' environmental conscience, in order to completely satisfy clients' expectations while taking care of the environment.
Vineyards
In Situ is a ‘terroir project’ with the vineyards located at the eastern end of the Aconcagua river Valley in Central Chile, at high altitude (in fact they are the highest vineyards in Chile). The warm daytime temperatures provide ideal ripening conditions for the grapes while the altitude, and the breezes that descend from the Andes mountains at night, provide the cooling required to achieve the balancing acidity necessary for great wines. The exclusive vinification of a single vineyard plot captures the expression of the unique terroir, where the interaction between soil, climate and grape present a unique identity to each wine.
The area has been a meeting point for Aconcagua Valley inhabitants for hundreds of years and today, the enigmatic rock drawings remain intact among the native flora and cultivated vines that adorn the hillsides. These ancient drawings, resembling a spider's web, form part of the design of the distinctive In Situ packaging.
